6-5-97: LORD II: Beta 7 (V0.99) quick info:
Woah! It's 8:48, I have 12 minutes to get this online or I'm gonna get
some nasty emails!!!
Ok, EVERYTHING is done.. this *IS* the last beta. Report all bugs fairly
quick and they will be fixed in the full version, which will be released in
2 weeks and really won't have many changes, just fixes. (if it needs them,
snicker)
One house is greentree isn't finished, it has to do with the Turgon quest,
it will be finished in the full. And I will probably add a 'lay ranker'
somewhere, but that is about it. THE REST IS DONE!!

* Changes in this version:
* Added @#IWON to GAMETXT.REF, is called when one player kills another.
* The enemy player # is passed to `v39 when IWON is called. (so the .ref
can know exactly WHICH player another player killed)
* Free'ed up some stack space, IWON was getting a runtime error on some
commands..
* Now reports true amount of gold lost when reading 'you got killed' mail.
* Castle Coldrake can be bought. It has some nifty features that make
it worth the $20,000 it costs - such as a carriage to get you places
quit, a free heal and a way to sleep outside so people can see you, but
can't attack you.
* Added 3 or 4 new kinds of potions and hid them all over. They raise
stats like hitpoints, muscle and dodge.
* added a @do `v01 is 1 to the priest random event.. whups!!!!
* Thanks to Robby for letting me know that Roosters don't lay eggs. <G>
Angry Rooster was changed to Angry Hen.
* Fixed misspelling in Future Warrior enemy
* Fixed misspelling in of the porttown.ref enemies
* Took out a hard spot that should have been soft in Stonebrook.
* Fixed all the castle.refs for a mispelling and an error when someone
entered a blank password.
* Added Wizard Tower, another ownable structure - lets you get a key
that will let the owner warp back at any time!! (and more) (cost
$40,000)
* Added a cool ANSI for the 'sick prostitute' in Porttown.. thansk to
Zippy Pez for this and most of the other great ansi's.
* Added bounty hunting. People said it couldn't be done in only .REF's,
but like everything else, it was!! Aw yeah!
* When viewing 'People online' it now doesn't show M for males. Just F.
* When listing warriors, the 'quests' stat is positioned better and
colored write now.
* Fixed ALLOFF.EXE... it didn't work AT ALL until now!!! It's so damn
simple I can't believe I made the mistake I did...<hits forhead)
I also have it deleting the UPDATE.TMP file now - this basically cleans
the multinode talking out too. (this file also marks players on, busy
or in battle, deleting it won't hurt anything..)
* Giving items won't cause a <MORE> in a bad spot if you have a lot of
items anymore
* Fixed a mispelling in the unregistered message when they try to go past
the legal screen boundry.
* Added IGM.EXE and IGM.DOC - aw yeah!! I've also included an example
IGM, CRAZY100.ZIP, really dumb something to try out to see how it works.
* Fixed Jack's so you exit from the bottom. Some people would freak out
and go IN and OUT over and over by holding down the up key...
* Added Sosen Village. (renamed, was Karna)
* Added Sosen Inn, can be owned. The owner can set the price and
actually gets the money when people stay there! He has to go pick it
up of course!
* Added the Sosen general store, has some new weapons and armour and
ship tickets.
* Added 'rape event' to get/lose alignment. Yeah, clean mode
definatly disables this one. I think it's done in a tastefull way
though. (ie, rape is bad and you get to kill the guys doing it)
* Added polar.ref, much o monsters for the polar region.
* Changed Broken flutes name to Ancient Flute
* Added 'the Music Store' aw yeah, a place to fix a certain flute.
* Fixed discontinuity problem with road east of Flagcity
* VD actually takes away hitpoints now at newday
* Added a church to Greentree. You guess it, you can get rid of VD
here
* Finished Evil Forest quest
* Moonstones each give 500 extra turns per day
* Fixed prob where it would say 'only 0 minutes left' sometimes right
at the start. (not major, was just annoying)
* Quest bonus 'Dodge point' actually gives it now, instead of giving
muscle
* Sosen Village and Arrisville contacts added to the questengine2000(tm)
* more buildings and random events were added to Bonetown, including
a whore house (with clean mode on this becomes something else), a
bar and 3 random events that can happen while walking around the
city like getting stuck in the middle of a gang war and such.
* If you have a bounty on your head, they will make you pay to get in.
* Fixed it so <MORE> prompts won't happen after quitting the game, and
getting kicked out by time, ect.
* Now when giving an item to someone who is ONLINE, they will get a
'so and so searches through his backpack' message while the guy is
choosing which items to give. Kinda lets them know what is going on,
also does with gold. (searches through money pouch)
* Added 1 on 1 chat, shows up when you hail someone who is currently on
* REF language modifications:
* convert_file_to_ascii
* convert_file_to_ansi : These are used to convert ` codes for BBS
score files.
* stripbad : Was there but undocumented before, strips out badwords and
illegal ` symbols.
* stripall : This strips all ` codes completely. Added at Ben Tieferts
request.. He's making a huge addon world! (if he finishes it.. which
you had BETTER do, Ben!!!!!)
* LORD2 now creates SCORE.ANS and SCORE.TXT after every use, so your BBS
can show the current game from another menu.
* Most of the older quest things have been revamped to give quest
points.
* Fixed some weird problems with gametxt.ref and rules.ref, it's now
simpler to turn on and off an 'intro message'.
* Changed default 'quest opportunities' from 2 to 4, now that there are
more towns this is needed.. so people can reject quests across the
world.. (unless they plan on going there..)
* Players level 15+ can be attacked in Inns. This is configurable via
a new setting you will see in the RULES.REF file. 0 disables this.
(this is to force players to think about buying a house or teaming up
with someone who has one) Also added this to the 'View Game Settings'
screen so people will know.
* -100 alignment now shows up without a comma in the rankings/view stats.
* There are now 3 random masters and battle grounds when raising levels..
I also re balanced the stats, a little more random too.
* Clean mode fix for the 'ho' story at the lodge, and flirting doesn't
show up on the menu.
* "Coat Hanger" changed to "Barren Rock".. it little less crude?
* Charm replaced by Gem's in the stat screen.. charm is still there, but
unused now.
* Bartender can trade gems, old LORD players know whats up with this.
* Phew, finished both endings! The game is done!!!
